How Handmade Jewellery Made Its Way Onto a Runway in Riga

Sometimes, opportunities come quietly, and you only realise their significance after the fact. For Wild Weaves, one of those moments happened in Riga, Latvia, when my handmade jewellery was featured in a bridal runway showcase with Novaliss, as part of Līgavām and Riga Fashion Week

Seeing pieces I had made by hand on models felt surreal. Not because it was fashion week, but because it showed that slow, intentional jewellery can belong in spaces usually dominated by polished perfection.

Why It Worked

Novaliss creates bridal pieces that balance structure, softness, and emotion. Their garments felt like a natural match for Wild Weaves jewellery, which is designed to be personal, tactile, and meaningful. Bridal jewellery carries a special weight: it’s worn close to the body, often kept long after the day, and tied to memory.

For the runway, we used pearls, wire-knit textures, and organic forms. Necklaces followed the lines of the garments, earrings complementing the look without distraction. Pearls added warmth, and knitted metal added texture without heaviness. The jewellery enhanced the story rather than competing with it.

Why It Matters

Runways reflect what people value. This collaboration showed that handmade, thoughtful jewellery has a place alongside couture. It confirmed that pieces made with care can feel modern and wearable even under the lights of a fashion show.

This moment wasn’t about a milestone. It was about connection: between maker and designer, garment and jewellery, hands and wearer. And it reminded me why I started Wild Weaves in the first place: to create jewellery that carries story, texture, and intention.
